I was saying about this Soft Seat Waiting Hall yesterday, wasn’t I? Here’s the thing, in China there are a few types of train tickets – the soft bed (which is the highest class and most expensive), hard bed, soft seat and hard seat (the lowest class, the cheapest and the most crowded). As the soft seat/bed is the more expensive of the two, it is some kind of a higher class ticket and is normally catered to people who can afford it, and as such, every big train station (Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou) has a soft seat waiting room which is specifically catered to these people. These waiting rooms are more posh in the decoration, better in services, and the most important thing is the passengers get priority in boarding the trains (apparently).
The Chinese New Year holidays are over and I need to be working tomorrow. Oh well, all good things must come to an end. Hope that everything would be fine until the next public holidays – Labour Day in May.
Witnessed a skirmish during lunch time at the eating place near our home. It was quite a silly one, as one of the customers was making a big fuss out of something minor, and then somehow the whole issue evolved into a big conflict between about 5 customers and all the staffs at the eatery. Policemen were called in cos apparently some people threw a punch or a kick. As far as I’m concerned, it was the customer who was in the wrong and wanted to pick up a fight in the first place, yet somehow it became the staffs that were in the wrong. And then those curious passers by suddenly all joined in and wanted a piece of the action. I think I would have joined in if a plate or bowl was thrown and hit me. It was utter madness.
Not really in a good mood today, probably because of having to go to work tomorrow. Or perhaps it’s because tomorrow is V-Day again. Another V-Day to be spent alone. Oh well, I’m not complaining – why complain when I’m already used to it anyway?
