Yan’an Road.

If one fine day you are deciding that you want to walk from Xintiandi to Zhongshan Park, the not recommended route is East Yan’an Road – Middle Yan’an Road – West Yan’an Road – Kaixuan Road. If you go by this route it’s going to take you 3 hours.

In any case today was a pretty nice day. Spent the whole day calling people up in Beijing to try to arrange for some interviews and in the end I made about 10 calls and got to confirm with two and a half, so I was actually kinda glad about it. But because of that I won’t be going to the SHEN D&D. Well, you win some, you lose some.

Went to Times Square for dinner with a couple of other people and all of us agreed that the lion and the lioness looked very good with each other. Hope something good is going to come out from there. After dinner the whole lot of us moved to Xintiandi for a little chill out session. I had a tequila sunrise and a long island tea and to be honest, I think the LIT was pretty well mixed (comparable to Madam Zung) and I was kinda seeing stars after half the glass – mind you, the glass was huge – but I managed to keep myself sober and was able to talk about some things related to SHEN.

Was supposed to be going to this pool place with them, but Sister was getting a little bit tired so we decided to WALK back from Huaihai Road. We took a walk down the Yan’an Elevated Road (as in we were under the elevated road of course, but we were following the elevated road to walk). We had a walk for about two and a half hours and while it was tiring, we had a very good chat with each other (I swear this time round I wasn’t just making her listen to me moan cos she was moaning to me as well!) so we didn’t really feel too tired about it (yeah right). I guess from the conversation we realised that we are just too similar to each other. We got so much closer to each other because the situation happened in such a way that it brought the two of us closer, so I guess we really need to cherish this special friendship we have, ya? As far as I’m concerned, this two and a half hours were the happiest period for me this week. So much happened in these couple of weeks that I really am beginning to feel a bit losing myself. Sometimes I ask myself “what am I doing here?” and I can’t really find an answer. It’s not as if like back in Singapore where I can always fall back on home whenever something happens. Over here in Shanghai, I am pretty much all alone when dealt with situations. Thus to an extent I’m really happy to have people like MC and Sister who are willing to listen to me, give me advice, point me the way when I’m lost… I’m really grateful. There are some “friends” I don’t mind not having, but at the same time there are friends that I’m just too scared to lose, especially when I’m here in Shanghai. Thanks a lot.

But no, I’m not falling in love with my Sister yet. Not likely anyway. Haha.

And ya, if you intend to walk from Xintiandi to Zhongshan Park, perhaps you should try this route instead: North Huangpi Road – West Nanjing Road – Yuyuan Road – Changning Road – Kaixuan Road. It may be a shorter way. Or if you must walk along Yan’an Road, take the cut at Wuyi Road instead. Don’t be so dumb like us and walked one big round to Kaixuan Road.
