Hangzhou (for the 8th time)

It has been a few tiring days for me, but since I still am pretty sober, I think I should do a bit of updating otherwise it really would feel very wrong to keep all my fans in the dark about what I’ve been up to.

Thursday: Hangzhou (for the 7th time)
Was there with JC and PK for some business, so was basically there, did the work and came back. Nothing too spectacular.

Friday: Kunshan
Was there with JC and PK and Audrey for some business, so was basically there, did the work and came back. Just that the return trip was on a van with no air-con. Well, not having air-con is probably still acceptable to me, but not when the 20-seater van was actually carrying 31 people. In the end the ride was really a rough ride and I’m not going to do it again. Thank God I have Mum and Sis arriving in Shanghai to look forward to. They arrived at about 4.40 from Hong Kong, checked them into the hotel and went to Nanjing Road. It rained halfway through, so we went to Daniang Dumplings for dinner. Continued walking towards the Bund, only for the rain to become heavier. Totally drenched, we took a bus from The Bund to Jing’an Temple and walked back to the hotel from there. Thank God the walk wasn’t long, and thank Mum for bringing some of my clothes from Singapore, so I took a hot shower (something that I haven’t been doing for a few months) and returned home happy.

Saturday
Went to Nanjing Road again with Mum and Sis in the morning and left them there to walk around on their own while I rushed back to Fudan to meet my local Chinese friends from my Marketing class. We were due to have a lunch before some of them return home for the summer vacations. Quite a lot of people turned up – Ou Yang and his girlfriend, Yiming, Jiansheng, Wang Jiang, Huailiang, Song Lei and Tingting – and basically we had a very nice lunch. Went back to Nanjing Road to pick my Mum and Sis up and went to Chenghuangmiao from there. Had a quick walkabout and moved to Xiangyang Market. I bought myself a pair of “Nike” sandals and a “Wenger” bag. I think it would be safe to say that my Mum and Sis were very impressed with the place. Dinner was at Xujiahui – the most memorable thing was the uncooked fish (which subsequently the restaurant gave us a new one free of charge).

Today
Went to Hangzhou early in the morning. Had a walkabout at Lingyin Temple, before the admission ticket price turned us off and we promptly went to West Lake and spent the entire morning there. Lunch was some Hangzhou specialities and I think both Mum and Sis enjoyed it very much. Continued the walkabout at West Lake before going to Yan’an Road to do some shopping. As we were pretty tired from the walking and shopping, so we went to UBC Coffee for a rest and chat. I told Mum about my ambition to do my Masters (probably in Fudan, haha) and I think she would support me if I do intend to do it. Left for train station at 6, did some last minute shopping at the train station before boarding the train. Reached Shanghai at 9, and the hotel at 10. Came home at 10.30 and would be meeting them for dinner tomorrow evening.

That’s 7 bottles of beer I’ve downed in 4 days. I think all these alcohol is either going to kill me, or make my beer belly appear. That would mean that the 12kg I lost for the past half a year a waste. I think I’m the only one out of everyone here that is losing weight. So for the sake of my weight losing regime (which I actually did not plan for) I should stop drinking beer.
