Went for the Information System Analysis and Design class in the afternoon and it was a four-hour class. It’s safe to say that it’s a mental and physical challenge put together. But it was still interesting. Knowing the people taking the class beforehand is obviously useful, cos it makes the time spent in class much easier to go through. I think it’s always nice to see all those classmates I got to know from Marketing Management last semester, and I’m happy that most of them remembered me!
The funny thing happened when I was talking to my lecturer about my situation, and all out of a sudden Meng Xia told the lecturer that I’m joining their project group! I wasn’t even sure if I can take that module in the first place, so it’s weird to be signed up with a group when I don’t even know what I might be doing! I mean, I’m Ok with joining any group, really. But to get signed up without even knowing what’s really going on was a bit… erm… interesting, I would say.
And now that with School of Computing rejected my plans to map this module back to Singapore, perhaps I’ll just consider being an advisor or a consultant to my group mates as far as the projects are concerned. Besides, now that I can’t map this module back, I don’t think I’ll be registering this module, and as such, I can’t see myself making 100% effort for the module.I know it sounds irresponsible, but I hope my group can perhaps find one more member so that the effect of me not putting in my 100% will be reduced… With my work, my business case, my SHEN committments… I don’t know if I can afford the time and energy to throw so much effort into this module. I don’t want to be letting my group mates down, but I don’t want to kill myself with the workload either… Argh, dilemmas.
Well, one interesting thing did happen as far as thr grouping of my group goes. I would think that to be grouped with Liu Tingting was… a nice surprise. She did get quite a bit of my attention last semester during the Marketing Management class because she’s from the northeast – I always have very nice opinions on people who are from there. Somehow I just think that she’s different. As to how different she is from the other girls, I’m not sure, but I think she’s a bit special. Perhaps this semester would be a nice chance to get to know her, as well as all the other people in the class, better. I do hope to remember at least 25 names from the class before I return to Singapore!
Went for the NUS@Shanghai Opening Ceremony briefing and had a nice evening with Gabriel and Prof Lim. I must say Prof Lim is a very interesting professor – easily the most interesting one that I’ve seen over my couple of years at NUS. He’s just so different from everyone else – I think he’s the type that knows how to work and play. Compared to some of those people at NUS itself who are either always too keen to do their research or “work” for their professor rank. Prof Lim just seemed so different and I must say I learned a lot of things from him today by just talking to him. I hope I get to meet him more often!
Mid-Authmn Festival Celebration at the Singapore Consulate tomorrow. I hope I enjoy myself.
Lately the weather has been acting up strange in Shanghai – it was horribly hot and humid today and I almost died from that today. Hope tomorrow is a better day as far as the weather is concerned.
Need to be buying the train tickets to Guangzhou tomorrow.
