After more than three weeks, I’m back in Shanghai.
The train ride from Hong Kong back to Shanghai was kinda weird. The ride itself wasn’t the best because the train was delayed by almost 4 hours and I don’t think anyone on board was impressed with such a delay. Also, either the train engine has a problem or the person controlling the train has a problem – the train just couldn’t seem to be able to move smoothly. More than once the train came to sudden brakes that caught everyone on guard and I heard in another cabin one lady actually fell off from her bed in the middle tier because of the braking. That was absolutely awful.
But the good thing to come out from the train ride was that I managed to talk to a lot of interesting people, which kept me entertained for most of the ride. Apart from the chatting, I also read quite a bit of Hillary Clinton’s biography. Unlike the Chinese book I read on the way to Guangzhou from Shanghai, I couldn’t finish the entire book. In fact for a book about 800 pages long, I managed only about 350 of them. But so far from what I read I was very impressed already. I really think Hillary Clinton is an extraordinary lady and she excelled in whatever she did. She has the courage to do what she thinks she ought to do and I admire her for that. Now if only I have the chance to meet the lady herself – that would be quite special.
I also slept quite a bit on the train because I was kinda tired after the past few days of inability to sleep well due to the jet lag. In fact I feel asleep at about 8 in the evening last night and woke up at 7.30 this morning. Even the people around me were quite amazed about how much I can sleep.
On my way back to Shanghai, I was thinking quite a bit of things. I decided that I would write a book about my experience in this one year away from Singapore. I’m not sure if I’d have enough money to get the book published and sold, but I don’t think that’s going to stop me from writing about this experience of mine.
Getting really tired. In fact so tired that I think I’d fall asleep before I even hit my pillow. So I’ll see everyone around.
