The highlight of the day was definitely my first Spanish lesson. The class was not big – I think there were about 8 to 9 people. I think I’m the only non-Chinese student in the class. The instructor is a native Spanish, and she’s even younger than me! I think the class was OK, it wasn’t very difficult to understand, and I had quite an enjoyable time. The thing that kinda bothered me was that while the lesson wasn’t hard, everyone else in the class seemed to think so. I think it was easy for me because I have background in other languages, but for the others in class, it wasn’t as easy. The class was conducted in English and Spanish, so for some of them whose command of English isn’t good to start with, it’s like learning two languages at the same time. That certainly isn’t going to be easy.
Our Spanish instructor made all of us have a Spanish name, and apparently my name now is called Xavi! The thing is that it is pronounced as “Cha-Bi” instead of “Sa-Vi”, so there you go.
