Computing.

Woke up at 10.30 after a pretty good night of sleep. It wasn’t hard to fall asleep, just that it was a bit way too hot to get used to.

Then spent the entire afternoon in school, catching up with old friends. It’s great that all of us remembered me, and while it was a little difficult at first because we have not met for so long, the ice broke later on and it was a great day. Also got to know some of the people who have come through the ranks at Computing Club, and I’m happy to hear that some of them are really enthusiastic and really want to do something for the club.

As much as the day went pretty well, I think I still have to adjust quite a bit. For example, this afternoon when I left home for school, I allowed a bus to zoom past because I forgot that unlike Shanghai where buses stop at every stop, I have to actually flag for the bus. Not the best way to start my re-settling process! And like what Renyu said, coming back to Singapore after a while away means that we have to go through a ‘reverse culture shock’, which I think is a very apt way to put it. Just that this reverse culture shock is a pretty nice one for me, cos after all I am coming back from a much more difficult environment.

Meeting my Computing Club friends was definitely the best way to begin my life after Shanghai. I think they really helped in making me settle back in, and I think I would really have a problem if I were to stay at home today, cos chances are I would be really spending my time missing everyone back in Shanghai. That doesn’t mean that I’m not thinking about you people back in Shanghai, it’s just that it makes the re-settling process easier when I’m with my friends here. I actually still miss all you people back there, and I’m really looking forward to see all of you again.
