Away for a few days because of a few reasons. I was in Singapore all along alright, but I didn’t update my little journal because:
1. I was so scared of the worm that was going on that was supposed to strike on 3rd Feb, so I had my laptop tucked nicely in the freezer and didn’t bring it out until the next day, even though I had my antivirus being up-to-date, I was still skeptical.
2. Was hooked on FIFA Street on the PS2, so I spent all my time playing the game, neglecting other times that were supposed to be used on other things.
3. I was just plain lazy.
Anyway the weekend had been OK, I guess. Went over to Ministry of Sound again to see a few friends – some old, some new – and basically had a more interesting time than I had the other time. This time round I also tried to keep sober because of the bad lesson learned on Wednesday after Zouk. In the end I think it turned out well, I was wide awake when I got out of MOS at about 2.30, and I even took a bus to come back home!
Then yesterday was basically spent on my PS2 – FIFA Street is highly addictive, and I think I might actually complete the game if not for the fact that I was supposed to be meeting my old Para Para friends for dinner. It’s been a long time since I last saw most of them, and it was great to see them again. Most of them didn’t change, and we had a good time looking through the pictures and videos of our Para Para times a few years back. There were a few things that we were having a laugh about, but we generally agreed on a few things:
1. Our Para Para group was the best in Singapore for quite a while.
2. Our Para Para group was the most successful in Singapore for quite a while.
3. I was much fatter back then.
Then today was another not-too-exciting day. Spent the morning playing game again, then went over to Zouk with Sis to check out the flea market. This time round the flea market didn’t seem as interesting as the last one I went to (September 2004, may I add – refer to this entry), cos apparently this time round everyone was selling clothes and accessories like earrings and all that. Not very exciting for a guy like me who either can’t wear them because they were for girls, or can’t fit into them because I’m too fat.
I saw on TV how the Muslims were reacting to the cartoons that some Danish newspaper published, and after seeing those cartoons, I think I could sympathise with my Muslim friends – the cartoons were way overboard and I think while free speech is one thing, disrespecting and insulting other people, especially on things such as religions, are just way out of order. I think there’s something terribly wrong with the western countries.
Would be heading to school to help with the pre-screening of the next batch of NOC applicants – never imagine that I would ever get the chance to look at these kids, but it showed one thing – I’m getting older!
Anyway a new week is beginning, and it signals the start of a new chapter in life! I hope I will get the most out of this!
