The definitive guide to cutting aluminium cans.

Was in school today to help the rag and flag team with their float-building efforts, and was given the task of cutting up the aluminium drinks cans that we collected over the semester. After spending a few cans to test, I came up with this guide to cutting the cans.

1. Place the can opener on the top of the can, with the blade just below the rim.

2. Press hard to make an opening to the can. Put the can on a static surface to facilitate better cutting.

3.Turn the can opener knob in an anti-clockwise manner. You should be able to see the gap between the lid and the can opening up.

4. Remove the can opener and the lid after you have turned the can opener round the can once. Sometimes the end point of the turn might not be in line with the start point. When that happens, gently pull the lid away from the can to remove the lid.

5. A nicely cut can!

Caution: Always wear protective gear such as gloves when you are opening the can as the cut up can edges can be very sharp and can cause serious injuries.

Have fun cutting cans!

Sunday.

Spent the whole day at home trying to get the last bit of rest before moving full steam ahead tomorrow. So what I did was watch 2 of the DVDs that my sis bought from Hong Kong.

Actually I have no idea what I’m going to do in school tomorrow. I think I might want to meet my HYP supervisor first, get some directions here and there and let him know some of my thoughts while I was away. And then I will probably help the Rag & Flag team to work on the float. And then I probably might hide inside the honours lab to do some research for my HYP.

I think I would need to get a Mini SD Card reader. The Vodafone 903SH that I bought is a nice little gadget, but some of the features are a bit too troublesome for me to manipulate without a SD Card reader. Besides the SD Card reader, I’d probably need to get a piece of screen protector for the phone as well. The originial piece of the screen protector is way too big for the screen so now it makes the flipping open of the phone a bit too troublesome and thus not very cool.

Oh ya, since my results were out I think I’m kinda obliged to tell everyone how I did. I think all I can say is that the results have been pretty freaky. As far as the results are concerned I think they were good, but I think I was more lucky rather than anything. I guess to a certain extent I don’t think I deserved the grades, but since I’ve got them I’m not going to complain. At least it makes the HYP a little bit less pressurising.

See you tomorrow.
