Back.

Yes, I know, my Taichung travelogue is still not up yet. I actually have meant to do it last few days, but I realised that the electrical adapter for my Sony Vaio is actually in office and I didn’t bring it home. No wonder I couldn’t find it.

Anyway the past few days have been relatively OK. There’s still work to be done, but they are at a manageable level and I thought that’s not too bad. However, my back is getting a bit tight these few days, and I wonder if that is a signal for me to really rest well and not sleep so late every night. But then again, I don’t really sleep that late – I’m usually in bed around midnight, and I thought 7 hours of sleep is about enough for an adult. Oh well, we’ll see.

As previously mentioned, I’ll be doing a couse in the summer semester and for about 2 months I’ll be in school twice a week again. I don’t think it’s fun to be having lessons in the summer because it’s so hot, but it would be great to see my classmates in a classroom setting again!

Champions.

The last week was pretty busy for me. After returning from Taiwan, I found that I had a truckload of things to do, and staying in office until late suddenly became the norm! That said, it was enjoyable.

On Wednesday night (or more accurately, Thursday morning) I headed to Mong Kok to join a big bunch of fellow Manchester United fans to watch the Champions League final. I know I would have tried to get myself to Moscow to watch the final, but with a big event in school on the next day, that just wouldn’t be possible, so the next best thing to do was to watch in Hong Kong with fellow Reds. I actually contemplated not going, but the lure of watching United lift the trophy was too big, so I still headed out anyway. Everyone was on a high throughout the whole night. There was non stop singing, non stop screaming and non stop cheering, and when Cristiano Ronaldo put United up the whole place erupted! When Chelsea got their (undeserved) equalizer, the whole place was still buzzing as everyone was cheering United on. Then of course came the dreaded penalties, and everybody was stunned into silence when Cristiano Ronaldo missed his kick. As we all thought we would witness Chelsea being crowned Champions of Europe when John Terry stepped up, suddenly the whole place erupted again when Terry slipped and blasted his shot wide! Everyone was hugging one another as if the trohpy has been won – we hadn’t yet, but we knew we were in with a good chance.

So then it was Van Der Sar vs Anelka. The French Sulker placed his shot right into Van Der Sar’s palms, and United are European Champions! We almost tore the whole place down with our cheers, and it was truly memorable. The last win in 99 was extraordinary, but this win was just as dramatic. We thought we’d lost it, but somehow we won it again. These are stuffs that great memories are made of.

The moment…

The lot who witnessed United crown European Champions.

When I left the place it was already 6.30 in the morning, and when I got home it was about 6.45 – I had about one hour of sleep before having to go to work! As it turned out, I had to rely on whatever remaining bits of my excitement in the morning to endure the entire day, and true enough, by the time my day ended in office, I went into full concussion mode when I got on the bus! But then again, you don’t get to see Manchester United crown European Champions everyday, do you?

I still haven’t got my Taichung travelogue up – I promise I’ll get it up tomorrow when I have a day off!

Back.

Disappeared for quite a while – well I was either busy at work, or I wasn’t even in Hong Kong at all!

Had quite a bit to do in the office last week as we were preparing for another big activity this week, so there really wasn’t much time to squeeze an entry in.

Then I flew over to Taiwan on Saturday, and just returned to Hong Kong a few hours ago, so for a few days I wasn’t at home either.

Will update the trip to Taiwan tomorrow.

Champions.

The weekend was over, and what a weekend!

I went to Shenzhen with my sister on Saturday for a karaoke session that was ridiculously cheap. We went to Partyworld around Guomao, and we paid RMB 138 for our 3 hours of non-stop singing and non-stop eating. The deal was that the KTV only cater for 3 persons and above on Saturdays and Sundays, and the 2 of us actually had to pay for 3 persons. But even that was only RMB 138. So it worked out to about close to RMB 70 for 2 persons, which I think is still cheap!

Then yesterday evening I went to Mong Kok to watch football with a group of fellow Manchester United supporters. The place was completely red and basically everyone was singing and cheering non-stop. When Cristiano Ronaldo put United 1-0 up the place totally erupted – and this eruption was only eclipsed by the second goal scored by Ryan Giggs. Of course nothing beats seeing United lifting the championship trophy, and I think to be able to see the match with fellow Reds makes this win an even more memorable one.

Then I was at Festival Walk just now to meet up with two of my primary schoolmates and it was so wonderful to have been able to see them. Come to think of it, I think I’ve known them for close to 20 years, and I am so delighted that I’m able to find them again. Even though this time round only 3 of us could turn up, but I’m sure we could gather more people in the future!

This weekend has to be one of the happiest weekends so far for me in 2008!

Hot.

Whatever happened to spring?

These two days have been really hot. When I leave home in the morning, I have the scroching sun shining straight down and the heat is almost unbearable. It’s really bad and worse still, I don’t think that’s quite the end yet! It’s only the beginning of May and the weather is already so unbearable, I wonder what will happen in the next few months! The good thing is I have icy cold water readily available in the office, otherwise the summer would be a scary thought! In fact, I don’t mind staying in office because of the aircon and the the cold water – I am trying not to turn the aircon on at home because my electricity bill has been getting more and more expensive so I definitely don’t need to add to that!

That said, I think it’s still better to endure only 6 months of hot weather in Hong Kong than 12 in Singapore. I’m someone who is in serious need of winter, and I think at least Hong Kong can offer me about 3 months of that, which isn’t too bad an option.

Midweek.

I think I mentioned before that the Germans call Wednesday “Midweek”, and I personally prefer that too. It’s like it gives you some consolation that half of the working week is gone and all you have left is 2 more days of suffering before weekend comes.

Looking at my past week, I would say that it’s not entirely productive because lately I have kinda run out of things to do – but not anymore because I’m looking for things to do now! It’s always very pleasing to be able to be having something to do, though that very much depends on what the things to be done are!

I’m also looking at an opportunity to go for a long holiday. I know I don’t really have that many days of leave – I think the current figure stands at 6 or 7 and I’ll be taking 1 of them in 2 weeks’ time when I’m heading to Taiwan – but I think if I take them strategically I could afford a 10-day trip using the minimal number of leave days. I need toreally plan for it. Haha.

Oh yes, because I’ve changed the layout a little bit, the link to enter a comment for the post is invisible now. I’m thinking of rearranging the layout to the whole site soon and possibly add in a tagboard of some sort. But before that happens, if you are keen to leave a message, you can click the title of the individual posts to go to the actual page on LiveJournal, and you can still leave a comment there.

Have fun for the remaining days in the week, while I contemplate my final exam later in the evening. Not fun.

Identical.

You have to be marvelled by the “innovativeness” of the Chinese.

Does this look familiar?

Of course it does.

You can see the pretender, or the imitator, or the copycat at www.xiaonei.com. For me, I think if they are not from the same company, I foresee Facebook might be doing something about that soon.
