Kung Fu Panda.

I went to watch Kung Fu Panda just now in the evening with Cherie and I think it has to be one of the best movies that I’ve seen this year so far! It was just a whole lot of laughing, and yet at the same time some nice points to think about too. We watched the Cantonese version which featured the voices of people like Eason Chan and I thought that was quite a nice stroke. Some of the dialogues really came to life with the Cantonese dubbing, and I especially like the part when the Turtle Master was telling Shifu (or was it Po the Panda?):

「尋日過咗去 聽日話知佢 今朝有酒今朝醉」
(literally meaning: Yesterday? It’s over. Tomorrow? Who cares. Most important is to live for today – I’m quite sure the English version featuring Jack Black would be quite different here)

I thought this phrase really made sense – we don’t really need to dwell on what’s in the past, and we don’t really know what’s going to happen to us in the future. Most importantly is “now”, because that’s what we are living in!

Got a few hours’ of work tomorrow. It’s been a long time since I last have to go to office on a Saturday non-voluntarily, really.

And Initial D for the PS3 is apparently out and available now!

Considerations.

As I try to keep my promise of updating my journal more often in the month of July, here it is – another entry!

Work today after an extended break was never going to be easy as there were some things that I had to be doing some following up. I had a meeting in the morning and a briefing in the afternoon, and then a somewhat unprepared meeting with some of my students. All in all the day was OK, though I think that there are some things that I need to be following up in the next couple of days. After all, I’ve got about 10 days left before I head off to Nanjing!

Went to class in the evening and actually I find that my reason of going to lessons is not so much because of the lessons, but the group of classmates that I would get to see every time. We seem to be able to really enjoy ourselves in the class. There are usually a lot of banter in class among the group of us – amounting to about 10 – and I think we are constant menaces for the instructors, but we don’t care.

Need some rest now. Haha.

Taiwan (for the 4th time).

Hey hey, I’m back from Taiwan again! I think June definitely has not been a happy month for my little journal because I hardly touched it, but I promise that I’ll try to write more often for the month of July. I think even a short entry saying the “life sucks and shit happens” would be good, right?

Anyway I came back yesterday after a 5-day trip to Taiwan. The trip was fairly fruitful, and perhaps even eventful if you choose to describe it. There are many positives coming out from the trip – for example, I had the chance to visit some top Taiwanese universities, got to know some interesting people whom I definitely had a lot of fun with for the past few days, and on a personal front, I managed to explore much into my deeper self and did some understanding on myself. There are of course still some things that I probably need to learn more, but I guess I have at least started to do so.

The travelogue would again take a few days as I am contemplating a busy week ahead before I’m heading off to Nanjing for work in about 10 days’ time. I hope to get it up bit by bit, and I think the most likely way for the travelogue to be presented would be similar to that of my Taichung and Shanghai trips.

Would be back to work tomorrow after almost a week away – I certainly am not looking forward to it, but I think I should try to be positive and perhaps head to office in a positive mood. I have to look forward to things that come my way after all! I’m not sure about my physical condition tomorrow though, as I’ve spent the whole of today working on my term paper. The good thing was that I’ve done the preparation for the paper in advance, and have also written some parts of it while I was in Taiwan, but that didn’t make for any better life today as I sprinted through and ended up with about 13 pages of stuffs! Whatever it is, I’ve submitted the paper and that’s about the most important thing that I would need to care about.

I’m planning to go watch Kungfu Panda this Friday. Perhaps I can catch the English version first, and then the Cantonese version. It’s a pity though that I can’t be watching the Mandarin version – though I could consider heading to Shenzhen to watch it. Haha.
