Christmas Party.

Last Thursday there was this Christmas party for my building, and it was a day of food, games, laughter and most importantly, an opportunity for colleagues spread all over the building to meet and mingle – I finally got to see the Executive Director up close!

There were a lot of prizes waiting to be drawn during the lucky draw session. Unluckily for me, none of them went to me.

However I did manage to take home a tube of hand cream as consolation prize.

I’m never one who’s lucky enough in ruffles, bingos, lucky draws and all that stuff. This bingo card is another testament to that. All I needed was one number, and then the game ended. It hurt to have 3 possible winning numbers and yet not get anything out of it.

My colleague KL and myself demonstrating how Chupa Chups are eaten by proud young men.

As KL and myself kept demonstrating the Chupa Chups eating technique, FX didn’t look too bemused.

It was fun to have participated in my first Christmas gathering at VTC – hopefully there would be more to come!

Pictures to my baptism should be coming soon. I’m consolidating them right now in fact. And another thing – tomorrow is the last day of 2009, please enjoy it to the max and then usher in the new year in joy!

Baptism.

After spending more than a week in a hyper mode with the Hong Kong football team winning the gold medal at the East Asian Games, it’s finally time to allow reality to set back in once again.

The past week hasn’t been entirely eventful for me as far as work is concerned, but it was still a very eventful week for me because I am now an officially baptized Christian! The baptism yesterday was really a joyous occasion and I must say that it was one of the biggest highlights of my 2009. The last time I attended a baptism I could already sense how happy the occasion was, and when I was part of the whole thing it made it even more special.

The photos should be available soon, and I hope for those of you who can’t be with me on this occasion could also share the delight!

The new year is coming soon, and I think it’s about time to look back at 2009 and look forward to 2010!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Champions.

2009 East Asian Games Football Champions – Hong Kong

The Road to Legend
[3 Dec 2009] Group Stage: Hong Kong 4 – 1 South Korea
[8 Dec 2009] Group Stage: Hong Kong 0 – 1 China
[10 Dec 2009] Semi-final: Hong Kong 1 – 1 North Korea (Hong Kong wins 4-2 on penalties)
[12 Dec 2009] Final: Hong Kong 1 – 1 Japan (Hong Kong wins 4-2 on penalties)

Thank you, Team Hong Kong, for a brilliant night of football in which you showed tremendous fighting spirit. Thank you for giving us a night to remember.

12 December 2009 will forver be written in the football history books as it is the night in which we could proclaim that Hong Kong are the champions.

Some might say it’s not a big event, the opposition teams didn’t send their strongest team, etc etc… heck, a win is a win is a win. Anyone who dares doubt the Hong Kong lads for their achievement is a jerk on the surface and a scum at heart.

Now for greater things… WE ARE HONG KONG!

Kaohsiung.

I arrived in Kaohsiung yesterday and my main purpose for the trip was of course the Mayday concert at the Kaohsiung World Games Stadium (or the National Stadium as the official name goes). The concert itself was brilliant – it started at 8 and ended at 12.30! The crowd was wonderful too, as there were more than 50,000 people inside the stadium. The best thing about a Mayday concert is that they are always so great in atmposhere, and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The only down side, if at all, was that it was not long enough!

As for today, I spent most of it walking around Kaohsiung. Unlike Taipei, Kaohsiung isn’t a big metropolitan city, and to be honest, it wasn’t easy trying to get around places here even though there is a MRT system here. The thing is that the main sightseeing areas aren’t really near the MRT stations, which means there were quite a bit of walking involved. That said, because it’s my first time here, I think I am still enjoying myself. Of course I have to constantly remind myself that it’s not Taipei, so I shouldn’t be comparing Kaohsiung with Taipei that often.

Would be heading back to Hong Kong tomorrow night, hope everything would be good tomorrow in Kaohsiung.
