Gratitude 5.

And finally it’s the last day of my Gratitude Challenge and after keeping this challenge for a week, I do realise that there are many things that we can be grateful for.  But most of the time we are just too pre-occupied with hatred and prejudice that we fail to recognise that this world isn’t too damn bad after all.  Amid all these mess that’s happening out there, we can always find something that we are thankful about.

1. Work today has been good, and even though I was rather hard-pressed for time, I managed to do most of the things that I have set out to do before flying off to Chengdu for a working trip.

2. All the logistics for the working trip seems to be in place and I think I’m ready to go.  Things have gone smoother than I expected and it is always something to be grateful about.

3. A bit of rain to wash away the heat that has been building up for the past week or so.  It’s crazy that the temperature is still above 30 degrees even though we are now in September, so having that bit of rain is always good.

And for the final time, I am just going to nominate some of my colleagues at VTC… so Prosper, Thalea and Eva… 3 things to be grateful for the next 5 days… and I’m outta here!

Gratitude 4.

Wow, time flies.  This is already the fourth day of the Gratitude Challenge.  The lovely thing about this challenge is that when I look at my life everyday, it turns out that there area always things to be grateful about, and sometimes finding which 3 particular things could be quite hard.  OK anyway, here goes…

1.  Work today was tedious – I had a long meeting at Tsing Yi in the afternoon which ended at about 8:30 p.m.  So by the time I got home it was past 10 o’clock.  Gratefully I still managed to have dinner at home which Mum had prepared.  Having home-cooked food is something that I always look forward to.

2.  As I was in my Wan Chai office this morning, the prospect of heading to Tsing Yi for the meeting was never an exciting one.  I was grateful that another colleague managed to give me a lift, which save me from the daunting task of travelling to Tsing Yi on public transport…

3.  A scheduled meeting tomorrow evening has been postponed, leaving me with some time to catch up on things that I was supposed to have done a while ago but haven’t got the time to…

For today, I am going to nominate 3 of my friends in the local football circle, namely Jordan, Edmund and Tom.  So guys, 3 things to be grateful about for the next 5 days…

Gratitude 3.

Third day of Gratitude Challenge.  So here goes, and let’s make it short.

1. Grateful for how the Chengdu working trip next week is working out.  Some of the more nitty-gritty things are being sorted out in a simple way, and the folks in Chengdu are even going to come pick us up even though we are arriving late at night.  Can’t fault them at all.

2. Grateful for being able to leave office relatively early today.

3. Grateful that I have some really nice people who are willing to help me with whatever I do.  There are those who like to put me down, but many more prefer giving me a hand.  Lovely.

The nomination for today… let’s stay simple.  How about 3 of my friends from my university days? Let’s have Neng Giin, Kian Huat and Stella~~

Gratitude 2.

So we are into the second day of the Gratitude Challenge.  For today, my 3 things to be grateful about are actually quite simple.

1. Since today’s a public holiday here in Hong Kong, I managed to do something that I wasn’t able to do for a long while – that is to rest at home.  For the past couple of months I have always been busy with something and to be able to stay at home and just leisurely do what I want to do is just wonderful.

2. Managed to have lunch at home – that is like the first time in years!

3. I received an invitation from a Toastmasters Club in an university to deliver a workshop in November.  Finally I’m getting the chance to do a workshop! Awesomeness!

For today, I would like to nominate 3 Toastmasters friends: Connie, Wilson and Flora!  Now go on, 3 things that make you feel grateful for the next 5 days!

Gratitude 1.

So yesterday night I was tagged by Alice for the Gratitude Challenge, which requires me to be showing my gratitude to the good things (and bad things) that are happening to me for 5 consecutive days and I am required to tag 3 other friends each day to pass the Challenge on.  I thought this is quite nice, because firstly I won’t have to pour a whole bucket of ice over my body, and I think we should always count our blessings.  When I saw the tag last night, I was just ready to go to sleep so I decided that I would do it today instead, so here goes…

1. I’m grateful to be able to wake up this morning.  Not so much in a sense that I woke up in time for work, but more of being able to be alive.  There are many people who are here today but gone tomorrow, so to be able to be alive is perhaps the biggest blessing of all.

2. To be able to have dinner with my mum and sis tonight was good.  Both my sis and I have been busy and sometimes we don’t even get to see each other at home.  So to be able to have a nice little Mid-Autumn Festival was nice.

3.  My promotion has been confirmed.  There was some unexpected events along the way, but since this official letter has arrived, I couldn’t care less.  But if you are interested to hear more, we can always have a chat over chicken and beer.  One thing is, I am beginning to believe even more that it’s God’s will to make me stay in this post when I was pondering if I should quit my job 4 and a half years ago.

So for today I would like to tag 3 friends whom I believe have not been tagged before, and are probably not already doing this.  And I would start with some of my Korean friends because it’s Chuseok today – so let’s have… Serina, Minjung and Jung-ik!  So if you choose to accept the Gratitude Challenge, you will have to, for the next 5 days, write 3 things that you feel grateful for, and then you can nominate 3 other friends each day to continue the Challenge.  Let’s spread this sense of gratitude around and let love fill our world!
